The default skin should be modified to include a Table of Contents (TOC) generated automatically from the page displayed.
As per this discussion:
http://www.nabble.com/Auto-TOC-for-a-document--tf4435727.html[[br]] it is better to do it in Javascript than in XSLT.
Ideally, the TOC should be on one side of the page, seperate from the content. Even better would be a small button which expands when clicked to show the TOC.

The TOC is not intrusive

Hi
One cool feature would be to use a <a href="http://cocoondev.org/wiki/g1/279-cd.html">sidebox </a>for the TOC. The TOC could be generated either by Javascript (preferably) or through XSL.
